Iran major component of global transit corridors: Official
The head of Iran Ports and Maritime Organization says Iran has a key, fixed, and stabilized position in global transit corridors.
Reported by HPMM Group according to IRNA ; Mohammad Rastad made the remarks in the opening ceremony of the 20th Iran International Maritime & Offshore Technologies Exhibition (IRANIMEX2018) in the Kish International Exhibition Center in Iran’s southern island on Tuesday.
The first meeting of Coordination Council of Agreement on the establishment of Iran-Afghanistan-India transit corridor was held on October 23. Its first strategic committee to be held next week in order to discuss the corridor in the southeastern Port City of Chabahar and explore ways to expand the capacities of the country and Chabahar in the international transit, he said.
He added that by the container terminal of Shahid Rajaei Port in Bandar Abbas in southern Iran with the total investment of 124 million euros will be opened in the upcoming days.
Rastad said that increasing the maritime access of Iran’s southern ports of Shahid Rajaei, Imam Khomeini and Bushehr are among the government’s priorities.
The deputy minster of Road and Urban Development also stressed that Iran’s oil transit has grown by five percent during the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (beginning on March 21, 2018).

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi and other state and provincial officials were also present in the opening ceremony.
