Iran ready to implement OFID projects in needy states
Iran is ready to help OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) implement different projects in the needy countries, Iranian Ambassador to the International Organizations said on Thursday.
Reported by HPMM Group according to IRNA ; Iran as a main member of the OFID has always supported the Fund’s activities and goals, Kazem Gharib Abadi said in a meeting with newly-elected Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the OFID, Abdulhamid Alkhalifa.
The OFID is the most important body active in development activities around the world, Gharib Abadi, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the international organizations including International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, said.
According to ofid.org, the OPEC Fund for International Development is the development finance institution established by the Member States of OPEC in 1976 as a channel of aid to the developing countries. OFID works in cooperation with developing country partners and the international donor community to stimulate economic growth and alleviate poverty in all disadvantaged regions of the world.
As Gharib Abadi said, Iran enjoys considerable industrial and scientific capacities and is ready to help OFID implement its projects in the poor states.
For his part, the OFID CEO said that Iran as one of the founders of the Fund has always played an important role in the organization.
Alkhalifa further welcomed Iran’s proposal for using technical capacities of the member countries to implement the OFID projects.
Based on its main principle, the OFID aid to countries does not follow political aims, the CEO concluded.
